Blue eyed girl

She makes me feel insecure.

So pretty, effortlessly so.
She’s kind in a way that makes everyone want to be around her,
She could get any guy.
She’s the one they write all their songs about.
The main character in every story,
The one all the girls secretly envy,
But all the boys can’t help but fall for.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be her,
To walk into a room and have everyone’s eyes follow,
To be everything I’ve ever wanted to be, and everything I’m not.
A girl who leaves a mark.
A girl they’ll never forget.

Because she’ll always be the one who got away.
Not just from them, but from me.
A version of myself I can never reach.

. . .

To the blue-eyed girl,
How could my eyes ever compare?
Mine bring hurricanes and make you leave,
While hers, well, they’ll always make you want to stay.
